Homeward Hounds

Tryon Hounds, located in Tryon, North Carolina since 1926, is dedicated to the health and welfare of every hound. It is our great honor and responsibility to care for each hound for their entire lifetime. This responsibility includes finding loving homes for the hounds that are no longer active in the pack.

Homeward Hounds has been established by Tryon Hounds' Huntsman Beth Blackwell to prepare hounds for a stress-free transition from life in the pack to life as a pet and to find each hound a forever home.

The Homeward Hounds program starts with Homeward Hounds Boot Camp. Tryon Hounds staff and membership work with each individual hound to prepare them for the transition from hunting to companion animal. The proper training and continued socialization will ensure a successful transition into the home.

As graduates of the Homeward Hounds program, our hounds will be offered for adoption through Foothills Humane Society (see Joint Press Release.) Look for them on the FHS website and during the popular Sunday Stroll feature of the FHS Facebook page.

We are grateful for the opportunity to benefit from the experience and social reach of FHS for the management of the adoption process.

Together we are working to find wonderful forever homes for these special animals.

Please browse our available hounds. All have been neutered, micro-chipped, and are up to date on vaccinations. Complete an application if you would like to meet our hounds and take one of these wonderful animals home.
